Getting started

Your first request with cURL

One command returns a verified proxy. A second one sends your traffic through it.

Get a proxy.

No account and no key: one GET returns a random verified proxy.

$ curl 'https://gimmeproxy.com/api/getProxy?curl=true'
Sample response
http://192.0.2.24:8080
HTTPS checked

With curl=true the answer is a proxy URL you can paste straight into another command.

Read the response.

Without curl=true you get the full record as JSON. The most useful fields:

FieldMeaning
protocolhttp, socks4 or socks5
ip, portWhere the proxy listens (port is a string)
curl, ipPortThe same address, ready to use
countryISO country code of the proxy
speedMeasured download speed in KB/s
tsCheckedUnix time of the last passed HTTPS check

Use the proxy.

Hand the address to -x. One shell line asks for a proxy and uses it:

curl -sS -m 15 -x "$(curl -s 'https://gimmeproxy.com/api/getProxy?curl=true&protocol=http')" https://example.com/

For SOCKS proxies curl understands socks4:// and socks5://; use socks5h:// to let the proxy resolve the host name.

Add filters.

Combine parameters with &. This asks for a SOCKS5 proxy in Germany or the Netherlands, checked in the last ten minutes:

curl 'https://gimmeproxy.com/api/getProxy?protocol=socks5&country=DE,NL&maxCheckPeriod=600'

Every filter and response mode is listed in the API reference.

Keep building.
